The Different Types of Marijuana Concentrates at Green Collar Cannabis
The word “Concentrate” is becoming an ambiguous word in the marijuana business. It could mean kief, wax, tinctures, dabs, hash, butane oil, marijuana wax, CO2 oil or Rick Simpson Oil. More and more people are trying these different forms of marijuana concentrates in Tacoma and at Green Collar Cannabis we are here to guide you through the different options we have available in our marijuana shop located in Tacoma Washington.
Cannabis Concentrates can be extracted in a variety of ways from the marijuana plant, leaving behind a product with high concentrations of THC. Some varieties of concentrates can test as high as 80 percent THC, while others can contain high amounts of non-psychoactive substances like CBD which is used mostly for medical patients and does not deliver the buzz of normal marijuana products.
Here is a video by high times on the basics of Concentrates to get you started on your journey into the world of cannabis extracts.
Here are other types of Marijuana Concentrates you will find at Green Collar Cannabis.
Butane Hash Oil (BHO) aka Marijuana Wax
Butane hash oil or better known as BHO is a very highly potent form of concentrate popularly consumed for dabbing and other vaporization techniques. Cannabinoids are drawn out of the marijuana plant using butane extraction, which leaves behind a waxy substance that will either maintain its sticky texture or harden up, which results in a crumbly “honeycomb” or a glasslike “shatter”. Because the THC content can be up to 80 percent, BHO is very popular for people who have chronic pain. Before using BHO or Marijuana Wax always make sure that it is lab tested like all of our products at Green Collar Cannabis. If BHO is not purged correctly it can contain traces of butane which is not healthy for your lungs.
Kief, which also goes by the name of pollen or dry sift, is made up of the resin glands found in the trichomes of marijuana flowers. These glands contain the terpenes and cannabinoids that bring a diversity of flavors and effects to various marijuana strains. Kief is often used to make hash. Some consumers collect kief in a grinder and mix it with their marijuana for a more potent buzz.
Hash has been around for centuries. It is a marijuana concentrate that is made by compression of the plant’s resin glands. The powdery kief that surrounds your marijuana plants can be collected and pressed together to form the hash or other solvents such as ethanol or ice water can be used to more effectively remove the plant of their cannabinoid-laced crystals. Hash is not as potent as BHO and other concentrates but it remains popular around the world.
One of our most popular products at Green Collar Cannabis is CO2 OIL, a concentrate that is made possible by expensive botanical extractor’s that use carbon dioxide and pressure to separate cannabis plant material. This method, called super-critical fluid extraction is one of the best ways of minimizing marijuana to its root compounds. The amber oil it produces can be vaporized in a number of ways, one o the most popular being portable vaporizer pens.
Some of the industry’s best sellers are disposable cartridges infused with CO2 oil and a medical-grade solvent called polypropylene glycol, which is used to give the oil its liquid consistency.
Tinctures where legal until 1937 and were the most common form of marijuana medicine in the United States of America. A tincture is a liquid concentrate made through alcohol extraction, which takes out many of the cannabis plant’s useful cannabinoids. All you need is a few drops under the tongue for the medication to take its effect. The good thing is that you can apply more drops if needed since it is impossible to overdose on marijuana. Tinctures are a great way for people to get their medication if they prefer not to smoke marijuana.
Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)
In 2003 a well-known marijuana advocate named Rick Simpson treated his skin cancer using a homemade remedy made from marijuana extracts. By soaking the marijuana in pure naphtha or isopropyl alcohol, the therapeutic compounds are removed from the plant, leaving behind a tar-like substance after the solvent fully evaporates. RSO which also goes by the name of Phoenix Tears can be used orally or applied directly to your skin. Many of Green Collar’s vendors have different versions of RSO. Some are high in TCH while others are high in CBD which is the non-psychoactive form of the marijuana plant.
